Superman, No More!

Oh no, not another character actor has passed away. Christopher Reeve has passed away due to cardiac arrest. One of my all time favourite characters (I own all the superman DVDs) I will always miss him.

Gothika

Tagline: Because someone is dead doesn't mean they're gone.

I enjoyed the movie, after almost watching this movie in tiny parts for over 3 months. The suspense in the movie was bone chilling to me. It's not a slasher movie, if you're expecting it, instead it's more about a person who is on one side of the fence who suddenly finds themselves on the other side of the fence and can do almost nothing about it.

Well, Halle Berry plays the part of Dr. Miranda who is a psychologist of a particular institution, really well. I mean, her acting surpasses the storyline tremendously. The story goes as such, Berry, one day after work on her way home, sees a girl in the middle of the road and stops to see what is wrong. When she walks up to the girl, the story switches to her waking up in the institution where she is working but this time as a patient and not a doctor. She's been accused of killing her husband and is now assigned to the institution where she works as a patient.

No one believes her story that she did not kill her husband (delusional is what it's blamed on) She tries convincing everyone around her but no one listens. She then starts having these bad dreams which lead to her believing that she is possessed. But she uses this possession to her advantage and then manages to escape from the institution and uncovers a lot of stuff that she couldn't remember earlier. And finally the movie gives into an ending that I did not expect.

Now the main parts of the movie were well presented, and Berry plays the role to almost perfection. The storyline was not so great, but the suspense was killing. There were times that I couldn't take it. Now I've watched horror and slasher movies, but I felt that this was much more thrilling than those.

Well, all in all, a good movie to watch. There's not much blood and gore, but be ready to see some gut-wrenching scenes.
